EGGstravaganza

Our EGGstravaganza was a success!!
The best part about our project was having everyone looking for actual Easter eggs, it gave us quite a laugh until we finally told them the inflatables were the eggs!

Inflatopia Sneak Peek

Just a little sneak peek of what my group is doing for Inflatopia.

Bio-Map

I chose to make my Bio-Map on a t-shirt because it's laid back like me. I chose white for purity since I focused on my life in Christ. I started with the day I was born followed by events that were important to me, like my little brothers being born and giving my life to Christ. On the back I put my name, the year I was born and a Bible verse to sum it up.

Metaphor

I chose to make a "tiny dancer" as metaphor project because when I think of my childhood, the main thing I think of are the years I did dance.

Photos

1. This is a photo I took myself of my little brother
a. I took this photo because I thought it would be cool to capture him running through the water. I keep it because I use it as one of my photography pieces for my portfolio. I chose it for this assignment because it is one of my favorite pictures and it's significant to me because it is of my little brother and this was a fun day at the beach with my family.
b. The relationship between me and him is that he is my little brother and I wanted to capture a happy moment of him smiling, running through the water and having a great time.
c. I think this photo is intended to be viewed with joy because you can actually picture yourself there with him in the photo and I will definitely remember this photo in 10 years because it is one of my favorite photos of my little brother.

2. This photo was taken of me and two of my friends by another friend, Maida, who is also a photography major.
a. She was taking pictures of us for practice so we went out to this huge field and took pictures. It is my favorite picture in the whole world, I keep it because these are two of my best friends and this photo pretty much sums up our friendship.
b. The photographer is a friend of ours and we were all just laughing having a good time which made the  picture turn out the way it did. Whenever I look at the photo it makes me smile and remember how much fun we had that day.
c. I think that when other people look at this photo it makes them smile, especially if they know us and I will always remember this picture because of the girls that are in it with me.

3. This was taken by someone I don't know of people I don't know
a. This picture looks like a married couple dressed up to go somewhere and when you get a chance to take a photo like this you usually keep it and put it in a frame.
b. I don't know who took this photo, but it looks like it is in their house so I am assuming that it is someone in their family. My attitude towards this photo is not very intimate because I don't know them and I feel like pictures are something personal and its better if you know the people in the photo.
c. This photo is probably viewed by family members mostly and since its an old photo its a memory that they get to look back on and I probably won't remember this photo because I don't know who they are.

YUM CEREAL!

I have had my fair share of cardboard now I think because technically cereal boxes are made out of cardboard. I figured that cereal boxes would be easy because I wouldn't have to buy anything and everyone has cereal. I didn't want to break the boxes down, I wanted to keep the box's shape so I tried many different approaches on what to build and finally I decided on this. I hot glued all of the tabs together, I really liked the design that it made so I figured that I would just keep building on it. So I got more boxes and added them in the empty spaces between the others. It made this sort of sun shape or a burst of color if you will. I did flatten out a few boxes to make a back so that the boxes would hold together better because my original plan was to hang it which now I think I should have stuck with that idea. But when I saw that it could stand on its own I didn't want to let that feature go to waste. Then then I trimmed off the extra on the edges and last minute I decided to put the circle in the middle to cover the flaps on the inside. In the end I was satisfied with my work and I haven't eaten cereal in days!

NO MORE CARDBOARD!!

Finally no more cardboard! This is my finished product of my cardboard pecan. I know it's not perfect but I think I did a pretty good job, but then again I'm not a perfectionist. This one does look a lot better than my first one though. I finally got all the edges together which was the hardest part and the corners met at the ends, not perfectly but I think it looks the way ends of pecans look. I know it is a little boxy but I tried as hard as I could to get it more rounded. Then finally I crinkled up craft paper and put over the top to give it a more pecan like texture. Overall I am proud of my work!

Human Dots

For my human dot pictures I used two of my dot projects from the newspaper photos. I just cut out giant black dots with the same proportion as the little dots and taped them to my roommates hands. (can you tell they enjoyed having their pictures taken?)

Cardboard Cardboard and more Cardboard!

We were assigned to pick an object and make it completely out of cardboard. My object was a little pecan and you would think a pecan that's easy because that is what I thought...wrong! My original plan was to just take four pieces of cardboard and cut them into football shapes, then glue the sides and the end corners would just meet. I also though about making some sort of under structure so it would be stronger but I could not figure out how so it didn't happen. That failed because I could not quite get all my pieces the same size and the ends weren't long enough so I couldn't them to come together. So my solution was to extend the ends but the cardboard I chose was two thick and would not bend very well or glue very well. Long story short I'm starting over, I have a better idea of what to do this time so we will see how it turns out.
